Adobe Express! Make Your Own Instagram Template Tutorial

Want to keep your Instagram posts and reels looking flawless? This tutorial walks you through creating a reusable Adobe Express template with safe zones for text and visuals, so nothing gets cut off. Perfect for creators, businesses, and anyone who wants polished Instagram content every time!

Step-by-Step Guide

This guide is made for Adobe Express. If you don’t have an account, it is free. You can sign up at the link below but this guide should work in any design app with a tiny bit of tweaking.

1️⃣ Open Adobe Express

“Go to Adobe Express and start a new project. For posts, use 1080 x 1080 pixels. For reels, use 1080 x 1920 pixels.”
Let’s start with a Post:

2️⃣ Add Safe Zone Guides

“Insert a rectangle in the center of your design:
- Posts: 920 x 920 pixels.
- Reels: 1000 x 1420 pixels.
  Label the edges with text like ‘Safe Zone’ for clarity.”
Create a second page and resize (920)
Change the background to a soft shade
Download
Upload to the first page.

3️⃣ Customize Placeholder Content

“Add placeholders for images and text, such as:
- ‘Your Heading Here’
- ‘Your Subheading Here’
  Adjust the text size and placement to stay within the safe zones.”
For full image background, make sure nothing critical falls in the striped area!
Make sure animation falls within the frame

Now add a third page
Resize for a reel
Add a fourth page and resize (1420)
Change the background to a soft shade
Download
Upload to the third page.
Align Top and Left.

In my template, I went with a striped background instead of words.

4️⃣ Save & Reuse
